Scholarship Options Available In A Dental Hygienist School
Being a dental hygienist can be financially rewarding. However, the cost to become one can also be financially burdening. Tuition fee, books, and other miscellaneous fees required in a dental hygienist school can be expensive. Qualified students who want to pursue the dental hygienist career but has minimal monetary capability to pay for such has the option to apply for a dental hygienist scholarship grant.
Many dental schools and universities offer a general or departmental scholarship to students who meet their qualifications. The students may check with the financial aid department. However, these types of scholarships may be limited to a certain number of students only. But the search does not have to end there because other sources of scholarships outside of the school can also be availed.
The American Dental Hygienist’s Association offers the ADHA Institute Scholarship for qualified students. The award amount can range from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the type of qualification. Another leading toothpaste company, Colgate-Palmolive, offers the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Minority Scholarship which is solely dedicated to minority groups including African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans and Hispanics.
Scholarship grants generally offer to cover costs of tuition fees, books, and living expenses. The money is usually paid directly to the school’s financial aid department. Others provide a full coverage of educational expenses while others provide partial coverage. It may be necessary for them to do a background check to know if you are truly financially in need of the grant.
